With no internal hammer the MK3's bolt has little to do except operate the rifles' 10 shot magazine and seat the pellet directly into the rifling, resulting in a bolt action which is supremely under-stressed. One of the safest air rifles ever, Daystate supply a special key with each Mk3, that when inserted in the switch housed within the rifles' trigger guard, immobilises the rifle and isolates the power. That power comes from a special rechargeable battery concealed in the stock and is capable of powering many thousands of shots. Add to this a choice of superb walnut stocks, electronic safety catch, regulator, match trigger, automatic shot counting and that Daystate quality and you'll understand why so many shooters are changing to a MK3.
